Our Story

The journey began in Hillcrest in 1984 by Eric and Gill Tocknell who had the heart to start a Bible-based church with a passion for worship and children’s ministry.

In 1996 the church, which had seen incredible growth, was handed to Peter and Karen Rasmussen and continued to build great momentum. In 2009 the team felt God’s call to expand their vision by reaching the city and beyond through planting churches.

CityHill Church Amanzimtoti was planted by Tim & Paula Petersen and officially launched in May 2014 and is in relationship with the larger network of CityHill Churches while partnering with NCMI (New Covenant Ministries International).

We have seen many lives transformed and trust that God will continue to use each one of us to expand His Kingdom.
